House League Information Night

Updated Tuesday January 31, 2017 by Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse Association.

Please join members of the UMLA committee at the Uxbridge Arena (Williamson Boardroom) on Tuesday January 31 from 6:00pm - 8:30pm for a friendly information evening about all things lacrosse.

The Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse Association and Next Level Lacrosse are pleased to announce a strategic partnership starting in the 2017 lacrosse season.  Next Level will provide program, coaching and technical assistance to the association at the house league / skills development level.

The UMLA house league as such will be undergoing changes. New for 2017, will be an emphasis on growth and development similar to that of other sports such as hockey and soccer. Next Level will be instrumental in delivering that program on behalf of the UMLA.

The UMLA has phased out cross-checking in favour of the stick checking along with push and place models supported by the Ontario Lacrosse Association and USA lacrosse. This will enhance the player’s development in a safer and enjoyable playing environment.

The UMLA will be providing programming outside the rink, at an area field with an introduction of Field Lacrosse.

About UMLA:

The Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse association provides box and field related programs for the Uxbridge and surrounding communities.  Programs run in the spring starting in Mid April and run until the end of June.

About Next Level Lacrosse:

Next Level Lacrosse was founded in 2013, and is dedicated to individual player development. Its focus is on helping the next generation of lacrosse players take their game to the “Next Level”. Our program spawned from our love of the game and our unique journeys from minor, high school and prep school to NCAA lacrosse at the Division 1 level.

Next Level also focuses on high-intensity training camps and clinics designed to refine skills and educate players through offering a variety of programs ranging from day-long training camps, specialty and positional clinics, face-off clinics, box and field-specific training, Little Laxers program, private and small group lessons and weekly development programs from 3-9 weeks in length.

Working with UMLA and their house league program allows us to get back to our roots and share our passion and love of the game with brand new players and help grow the game in North Durham. We look forward to the 2017 season.
