HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

The Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse Association is in urgent need of dedicated volunteers to help us continue providing a fantastic lacrosse experience for our youth. Whether you're interested in coaching, managing, or joining our board, your passion for the game and community support are invaluable. We welcome anyone willing to contribute. WHAT DO I NEED TO COACH?

1. Contact Us to make sure a team is in need of a coach.
2. Criminal Record Check - required for anyone who was not OLA approved to be a volunteer/bench staff last season. Must have been completed within the last year (if you did one for hockey within the last 12 months then this will be acceptable) - submit this to umlaprivacyofficer@gmail.com, the cost is covered by the UMLA. You can find the reference letter here.
3. Offence Declaration Form - all volunteers and bench staff need to complete this form every season and submit a copy to umlaprivacyofficer@gmail.com. If you don't register each season and complete this form every year consecutively you will need a new VSC Check.
4. Complete the Making Head Way Concussion Module – Sport (Generic). The module is online and FREE.
5. Register in Sportzsoft for your applicable position (assistant coaches register as coach) - this is free, returning volunteers only require to register and have no docs to upload. New volunteers will need to upload their position credentials (nccp#, trainer certification, Coach certs etc). You must register for every position you will hold and for Field and or Box.
6. If you require coach certification for Field, Box or both, register for one of the clinics ASAP. The club covers the cost of the clinic, even with no lacrosse background it's a great tool to have and is only a one-day course to get certified.

MANAGERS

TRAINERS

3. Need an uploaded photo/print screen of your current Trainer Certification or proof of Professional designation (e.g., Doctor, Nurse, Firefighter, EMT etc.). Must be valid through the end of the Rep Box season. Please see the 2023 Ontario Lacrosse Association Recognized Trainer’s Certification List.

HOW TO REGISTER AS TEAM STAFF ON SPORTZSOFT

You will need to register on Sportzsoft to coach. If you are new to the UMLA, welcome to the Association! New members will need to create an account for their family on Sportzsoft.

1. Add members/players to your profile.
2. From the home page select [New Registration +]
3. In the [2023 Box Season] or [2023 Field Season] select the appropriate age group.
4. Select your profile or add a new family member
5. Review and agree to the waivers.
6. Upload any required documents
7. Complete the registration
8. It will say "Well done... Your registration is now considered valid and complete!"

We will then contact you with additional information.
